Musician and sound designer Sam OB - who created previous releases Night Zone, Sweetest Touch, Holographic Soul, and Neon Lo-fi - presents Splice Originals: Cybochronic. You’ll find Astra presets and loops representing synthwave, techno, electro, and disco. Drawing influence from legendary techno artists such as Drexciya, B12, Robert Hood, and Derrick May, this collection time travels through the 1990s Detroit underground and the UK’s early electronica scene. With sounds that span industrial, minimal, and celestial, this pack explores the cold nature of Splice’s Astra synth that harkens back to the ‘80s and ‘90s digital-sounding FM synths like the Yamaha DX7.

We dove deep into the darkness for Splice Originals' first-ever Astra offering. These patches are crafted for the club or brooding productions. We leaned more into the machine and metallic side of the synth, pulling influences from electro, lo-fi, industrial, and synthwave. We brought neon-tinged retro sounds into the contemporary repertoire of synth-forward music. From booming bass to luscious arps, these patches will take your project into another dimension.

Known for artistically weaving together styles, producer, composer, and sound designer Ben Bromley pulled out all the stops for this nostalgic, vibey pack. He started with inspiration from the early ‘90s grunge and trip hop scenes. Think Portishead, Massive Attack, and Morcheeba with just a bit more grit—more sonic youth than Soundgarden. Then he layered on sounds influenced by the scores of late-90s Japanese role-playing games, math rock, and slowcore. A doozy of a combination, for sure. And he kept going. He rounded out the pack with future-leaning hyper-pop-inspired vocals, giving the pack a modern edge.
