An established expert in organic, immersive audio textures, his 2021 album ‘health’ carried over this skill set into a more melodic, pop instrumental context. ‘Data Pollen’, the Curiosity Shop member’s airy new sample collection, uses custom-built software to create high tech drum hits, serene synth melodies, and watery, yet clear sound effects ready for pop and rap production with a sharp, crystalline edge.
"In this pack I wanted to include usable, song-ready sounds that toe the line of experimental and conventional,” sv1 tells us. "Many of the FX and drums are cut from my latest album ‘health’, and were generated using custom low level tools I wrote in Max MSP. I wanted to try and recreate a lot of the classic rap sounds that you find in almost every kit shared around the internet, that way I’d be able to put my own twist on them at the source.”

When i finished this pack i said "this is the best sample pack i ever made” i worked very hard for weeks to get this done and took care of the smallest aspect. I try to recreate the sound design of The Weeknd songs of course but I also try to get into his head and create something new in his style. These sounds are inspired in the "Dawn FM” album mainly but also in other hits by Abel. Samuel Vaille, otherwise known as sv1, is a Texas-based experimental producer and sound designer. He is best known for his amorphous debut EP ‘field study’ via Curiosity Shop and his ‘Organic Sound Design Masterclass’ via Lux Cache that takes the listener into a digital and aquatic dream-like soundscape.
In this Explores pack, sv1 took sounds of nature, water, metal, footsteps, household objects (basically anything he could get his hands on) and ran them through a vocoder. The result is a bizarre underworld of textures, harmonies, and musical artifacts that sounds like a digital apocalypse.
