Matt MacNeil has various musical identities - a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, the Toronto-based MacNeil has been a figure both as a solo artist, and bandmate to Kingsway alum Matthew Tavares with their indie-rock project Homer.
With his vast array of skills MacNeil deftly explores new musical territory with these selections using his abilities with guitars, bass and keys to lay down raw and captivating melodies, and digging into the effects and textures to ensure every musical idea is solidly presented and executed. Tempos run from 80bpm to 120bpm with a range of vibes from grim and raw to bright and vibrant there’s plenty here to explore on his first volume for the Kingsway Music Library.

Toronto-based producer/composer Quin Kiu has appeared as a guest on some Kingsway volumes, most notably on the Waves sample "W1 Q” which was placed on Lil Mosey’s track "Rockstars” last year. Since then, he has spent the last few months digging into his own volume, using his skills as an instrumentalist to craft a library that is rife with guitars, violins, pianos, Rhodes, synths and all manner of digitally manipulated field recordings.
The result is an experimental and heady collection of music, densely packed with emotive and expressive layers. These will keep you busy and inspired throughout these times of isolation.

Toronto’s Matt MacNeil returns with his second volume for the Kingsway Music Library, crafting fourteen samples that range from 80bpm to 155bpm and showcase his versatility as an instrumentalist and producer.
MacNeil’s approach is unique on each track, using lots of electric and acoustic guitars to establish the vibe and merging them with experimental sounds and effects that elevate them to unknown places. His imagination is on full display, plucking melodies and sounds from unorthodox places, giving enough variety so there’s something for everyone, but with a style that is inherently his own.
