Join us at Larrabee Sound Studios for a series on mixing 'Not a Bad Thing' by Justin Timberlake! With the Pro Tools multi-track session running through a SSL 9080 XL K-Series console, the renowned mix engineer Jimmy Douglass reveals his techniques employed on many chart-topping urban records. Using a combination of hardware and plug-ins, Douglass imparts his methods for treating drums, percussion, piano, synth pads, bass lines, guitars, and vocals.

You'll see how he combines outboard and 'in the box' EQ, compression, limiting, reverb, delay, and more to build a polished mix. Aside from such demonstrations, Jimmy discusses a number of important topics that includes monitoring, analog vs. digital workflow, judging low end, console saturation, headroom, and gain structure.
