At his Los Angeles home studio, producer Emile Haynie takes you through his musical background in vinyl DJing, sampling and looping to his first opportunity to work with Eminem. He then recounts his progression to making records with the likes of Ian Brown, Lana Del Ray and Kid Cudi, giving an overview of his workflow in terms of songwriting, arrangement, production, and his working relationship with mixers. He then opens the Pro Tools session of ‘June’ by Florence and the Machine and delves into technical details, explaining his rationale behind arrangement decisions, editing techniques, creative splicing, pitch-shifting, and time-based warping of audio that results in other-worldly sonic textures. Throughout, he also refers to sources of inspiration, artistic influences, the recording process, performance techniques, and his collaborative efforts with other musicians and writers.
