"If one man has single-handedly shaped what our world is dancing to, then it’s he.” - Mixmag
Recognized the world over as one of the most successful and prolific Hard House producers of all time, Ben Keen (a.k.a. ‘BK’) has conquered the world of dance with his own unique sound. His tracks are full of energy, brimming with infusions trance and techno that redefined the Hard House style. Growing up on the rave scene, he fell hard and fast for DJs and acts such as Carl Cox and The Prodigy, making him resolute on forging a career path in music.
He began learning his trade as a determined 16-year-old trainee engineer at Carnaby Street Studios, London, where he was writing music for film and television. However, it wasn’t long after discovering clubbing at the legendary Trade—the birthplace of Hard House and where he would later become resident—that he began utilizing his spare time (and the studio’s equipment) to experiment with his own sounds. He took his early influences from watching legends play at Trade play. BK would eventually return, his DJ bag slung over his shoulder and his own music in hand. He promptly destroyed the dancefloor, and a legend was born.
BK continued to cut his teeth in the world of producing by releasing music under several aliases, such as Razor Babes and Cortina. No matter the name, his music was irresistible to both clubbers and critics alike. He went on to storm the Global Dance Charts with standout tracks "Music is Moving” and "Revolution”, and his acclaimed "Hard Beat” series propelled Nukleuz into becoming the biggest selling independent record label for two years in a row.
One of the most talented DJ/producers on the scene, he has produced literally hundreds of records over the course of a career that has seen him travel the world, leaving celebrated spin-off parties and labels Riot and Slam in his wake. While his record undeniably speaks for itself, we feel obliged to reiterate it here: this man is a legend.
Now, nearly 20 years after its release, BK has decided to rework the entirety of "Revolution” from the ground up. Inspired by its resurgence during the COVID-19 pandemic, he decided to infuse a hard house classic with some modern techno twists. Over nearly three and a half hours, you’ll learn all about the history of this iconic song and watch as a master of his craft revisits his own work. This course is unlike anything you’ll see anywhere else.
