After welcoming you to the course, Gary begins by briefly discussing Cakewalk in a broad sense, so you can hear what all you can do with this program (hint: it's a lot!), and showing you exactly how to install it on your computer. Then, you'll learn how to set up your audio interface, which it what you use to record and play back your songs, and you'll get a look at the interface and learn how to create your first project.
Next, Gary explains the different types of tracks that are available (audio, MIDI, etc.) and shows how to record and edit MIDI first. MIDI stands for musical instrument data interface and allows you to record "virtual instruments" of just about anything you can imagine (drums, piano, cello, tuba, etc.) by using an external MIDI keyboard or even using your computer's QWERTY keyboard.
