IK Multimedia's MODO Bass set new standards for modeling features in a virtual instrument, making it possible to generate professional-sounding bass parts with an unparalleled sense of realism. Now, join production guru Eli Krantzberg for a complete look at the follow-up: MODO Bass 2. In this MODO Bass 2 video course you'll learn all about the new bass models included, how to select the instrument, amp, microphone, electronics configuration, etc., how to use the included MIDI patterns or create your own, and much more! These MODO Bass 2 videos are designed for new MODO Bass 2 users.
After welcoming you to the course, Eli tours the interface and gives you a quick taste of what this instrument can do. You'll learn basic MIDI control, including how to trigger different articulations with key switches like bends, slides, vibrato, plucking style, and more. You'll also see how to give your lines an authentic touch by employing legato techniques (hammer-ons, pull-offs), ghost notes, harmonics, muting, and other subtle touches that real bass players commonly use without thinking about it.
You even have control over whether picked notes use an upstroke or downstroke, plucked notes use the index or middle finger, and notes are slapped or popped in the slap style. Eli also shows you how to specify where on the neck notes are played and where along the string the notes are plucked or picked, all of which produces notable differences in timbre.
There's much more as well, including the new upright bass model (key switch notes and other special functions), string-stopping and note-off noises, string parameters (different string types, tunings, etc.), electronics (pick up selection, circuitry variation, mic choice/position), Studio page (amp and stomp boxes), working with patterns (included ready-made patterns, importing your own), and more! Eli closes out the course with a three-part tutorial in which he creates a bass line from scratch, employing many of the covered functions and features so you can see MODO Bass 2 work in an actual musical context.
MODO Bass 2 is like having a first-call session bassist with a monster gear collection at your beck and call 24 hours a day, and Eli will show you all you need to know in order to create stunning bass lines for your tracks.
