Groove3 Modular Synthesis with REAKTOR BLOCKS Explained TUTORiAL
Ready to try your hand at modular synthesis but aren't sure where to start? We've got you covered! In this REAKTOR sound design video course, Groove3 instructor and synth wiz Stephen O'Connell will teach you the basics of modular synthesis with REAKTOR BLOCKS from Native Instruments, a fun, intuitive way to click together different modules and learn how synthesis and signal flow work in a modular setup, plus the basics of generating a sound, controlling that sound with note-shaping and filtering, modulating that sound in many cool ways to add complexity and intrigue, and sequencing the sound for amazing runs, riffs, ostinatos, and more. These REAKTOR BLOCKS video tutorials are designed for new REAKTOR BLOCKS users.

Stephen begins by welcoming you to the course and showing you how to download and install the REAKTOR player and Basic BLOCKS (if you haven't already) to get started right away. Then you'll learn how to get a sound going by adding the oscillator and VCA blocks. Shaping the note comes next, which is achieved with the ADSR (attack, decay, sustain, release) Envelope block, and you'll also learn the difference between carrier and modulation blocks.

There's much more to come, including adding movement (LFO block), attenuating modulation (VCA block used as a modulator), controlling the performance (velocity, pitch wheel, and mod wheel), randomizing modulation (Sample and Hold block), and much more!

While this course looks directly at modular synthesis in a software environment, it will also help you get a firm understanding of synthesis as a whole, allow you to take advantage of the software or hardware synths already in your collection, and apply what you learned to a hardware modular setup if you want. With detailed REAKTOR tutorials, specific sound examples, and demonstrations of common techniques, this REAKTOR course will set you on a path to integrate synthesis and sound design into your music. See the individual REAKTOR BLOCKS video tutorial descriptions for more information and other ideas for how you can incorporate REAKTOR BLOCKS (or modular synthesis in general) into your productions. Get ready for a whole new sonic experience... watch "Modular Synthesis with REAKTOR BLOCKS Explained®" now!

What You Will Learn:

-The basics of modular synthesis and how the REAKTOR BLOCKS system works

-How to add various "blocks" to build up your synth one module at a time to accomplish various tasks: adding sound, shaping the sound, adding modulation, etc.

-How to control the performance with various tools like velocity, the pitch wheel, the mod wheel, etc.

-Using FM synthesis to generate some wild, intense sounds and then learning ways to tame them and make them more usable

-And much more!

Synth expert Sami Rabia presents a comprehensive modular synth video tutorial guide designed for beginners! If you want to learn the important basics of modular synthesis these video tutorials cover all of the core components needed for a modular synth setup. In the videos Sami uses the free VCV Rack software that emulates a modular synth setup, but all of the info applies 100% to their hardware equivalents. These videos are for those who are brand new to modular synthesis.

Sami welcomes you and goes over what the course will cover and what you should expect to learn throughout the videos. He then starts with a lesson on how to set up VCV Rack as well as configure your controller inputs and audio outputs so you can play your modular synth. Then you'll see how to efficiently navigate the VCV Rack software, plus get helpful keyboard shortcuts to make navigation even easier.

Up your levels. Move beyond the basics of sound synthesis, in this course with musician Scott Hirsch. These advanced tutorials explore the inner workings of familiar synth programming techniques, as well as a few alternatives for pushing your sound further. Scott builds from modular-component synthesis to other types of synthesis, including frequency-modulation (FM) synthesis, modeling synthesis, and vocoding techniques. The course finishes up with a series of tutorials on creating new sounds, including a classic vocoder effect, big moving basslines, evocative percussion patterns, and rich synth pads.

Early modular synthesizers that once took up entire rooms are now available at our fingertips with modern DAWs. Though software synths often use the same knobs and sliders as the originals, all the controls can be confusing. But you can crack the code and demystify synths with these tutorials from sound designer and engineer Scott Hirsch. Learn about the building blocks of synthesis (sine waves) and how you can build more complex tones with additive synthesis.
