Enhancements to SoundSource's Built-In Updating

SoundSource's updating code has been overhauled and improved. It is now based on Sparkle 1.26.0, with several customizations.

To avoid possible issues, SoundSource will no longer offer to "Install on Quit”. Automatic background updating has been removed as well, placing the user in charge of all updates.

The update interface has been improved, with several design and text enhancements.

Finally, the new "Skip for Now” button allows you to delay updating if desired.

As always, we strongly recommend leaving the "Automatically check for updates” option enabled.

Rare Startup Hang Fixed

A rare issue where SoundSource could hang at launch due to duplicate device entries has been fixed.

AirPlay Bug Fixes

Corrections have been made to how SoundSource handles AirPlay devices. Per-app output selectors once again correctly exclude the AirPlay output. As well, the AirPlay output will no longer incorrectly appear when Music.app is set to play audio to an AirPlay device.

Enhancements have been made to support for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, with custom artwork for each model.

SoundSource now only affects input devices when necessary, reducing latency in many scenarios.

Improvements have been made for adjusting the audio of iOS apps running on M1 Macs. These apps should no longer appear multiple times in SoundSource's Applications list.

Resetting an application's settings (by control-clicking the application, then selecting the "Reset to Default Settings” option) now correctly resets the state of "Bypass Effects” as well.

Volume Overdrive settings are now correctly saved between launches even when the effect is bypassed.

Mute buttons have been improved visually, with a new standard "pressed” state.

When SoundSource is unlocked by entering a valid license key, in addition to displaying an animation, it will now play a brief celebratory sound for visually impaired users.

Many debugging improvements have been made:

Available logs have been cleaned up.

Active logs are now listed in the logging files.

Logs are now activated with simple checkboxes.

A "Quit and Relaunch to Debugging” option has been added, accessed by pressing option in the Options (Gear) menu.

Command-line debugging options have been added.

A "Short trial mode” option has been added for internal use.
