It combines the astute modeling of voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), voltage-controlled filter (VCF) and voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) with a comprehensive individual voice control that has never been done before in this detail.

Obsession is a powerful vintage synthesizer emulation. It starts out with the classic synth design comprised of two oscillators, a switchable two/four pole low-pass filter, two ADSR envelope generators and two LFOs, all meticulously modeled from the hardware.

While it does a great job at the usual tasks of rejecting noise and shaping transients, the MIDI in/out and alternate gating modes offered by G8 open a world of possibilities that let you forget you’re even using a ‘Gate’.

Use G8 to create dynamic rhythm patterns on sustained sounds; trigger an envelope on G8 with MIDI input or use it to trigger notes on a MIDI instrument; produce interesting fractal sequences and auto-panning effects with Delay and Output Reject. The first workstation synthesizer, released in 1988, which defined the sound of the late ’80s and early ’90s: M1.

Along with its innovative "workstation" concept, the M1's "AI" (Advanced Integrated) synthesis system used PCM waveforms and digital effects to deliver fully complete program and combination sounds. As a pioneer of PCM tone generation, it was notable not just for the reality of its sound, but also for the distinctive resonance and tonal character that demonstrated the high level of Korg's voicing technology. Numerous sounds available only from the M1, most notable the famous "M1 Piano” sound, were taken up by musicians and producers around the world, and are still in use today.
