The OwnHammer Rock-Box cabinets are proprietary enclosures, designed and built in-house singularly for impulse response capture and towards multiple sound design goals: to maximize fidelity and musicality for use in a broad range of styles and applications, to provide a tone that is both something familiar and something new, and to exude a neutrality that allows the individuality of different speakers, guitars, pickups, amps, and playing nuances to shine through unencumbered. Various unique construction choices were implemented to accomplish this complex requirement set to outstanding result, providing a tone with clean low end, magical midrange, smooth high end, and incredible note clarity across the entire spectrum.

The sound of this speaker specimen coupled with the OwnHammer Rock-Box cabinets could best be described as having a mechanical midrange grind that gorilla-gut-punches its way through the middle of a mix, not being lost in or interfering with the drum cymbals, while still presenting with an upper midrange snarl and grit that is entirely unique to itself.

Low TunedThe Low Tuned Essentials wave audio format impulse response library is based on an OwnHammer proprietary cabinet captured and mixed in such a way as to complement extended range and heavily downtuned guitars for use in contemporary music styles and production. While not exclusively useful within these parameters, the primarily intended application is for guitars with the lowest pitch being B1 and below.
When increasing the unit weight of a string in combination with down tuning, the inherent resonance of the string changes tonality. In simple terms it gets muddy; where the thicker the string and the lower the pitch, the more it builds. The IR's in this pack combat this by shaping the tone in such a way as to reduce that mud, yet provide additional support for lower fundamentals so that tones are clear and detailed, without being harsh or thin, while still full bodied and retaining authority.

The York Audio MRSH 412 MV30-Dual Cab Pack is based on a 1999 Marshall 1960bv 4x12 cabinet loaded with the original Celestion G12 Vintage speakers. In our search for THE 1960bv, we auditioned four cabinets from various years with different musical journeys.
There was something about this cabinet that had an instantly inspiring personality to it. Normally, we capture the best sounding speaker when making a pack, but this cab had two drastically different sounding speakers with their own unique sonic qualities that made choosing the best speaker nearly impossible… so instead of choosing just one, we had to capture both to truly honor this cabinet.
