Learn how to create multi-part guitar arrangements with live looping
Robert Fripp, Ed Sheeran, KT Tunstall, David Torn, Tim Reynolds, Ed O’Brien, and Kurt Vile are just a few of the countless guitarists and singer-songwriters that have helped make the art of live looping so popular today.
Whether you play just for yourself or perform live in front of audiences, learning how to create with a simple looper pedal is a game changer for any musician. This is especially true for guitarists who are able to create entire multi-part arrangements with percussive, rhythmic and melodic layers. Carl Wockner’s Artistic Looping for Guitar Players is your own personal game changer!
"I’ve organized this course into six sections. We’ll start with types of looper pedals and setup tips, and then I’ll help you create your first "seamless” loop, building percussion tracks with your guitar and voice.
From there, we’ll tackle layering and overdubbing approaches, multitrack loopers, timing, live performance, and a ton more.
In the final section I’ll perform six of my own songs on my personal live looping rig and then deconstruct the approach I use in my own live performances.”
Throughout the course, Carl will guide you through a series of six challenges to help get your looping skills up to speed and you’ll have TrueFire’s learning tools to work with as well.
Carl Wockner was named the first and only Australian artist to ever win Top Honors at the International Acoustic Music Award’s 2015, along with top of the AAA category for the release of his album Crayon Days. His "rare live looping style solo performances, signature vocals and unique acoustic guitar work renders Carl in a league of his own.”
We’re thrilled to welcome Carl to the family with his first TrueFire course, Artistic Looping for Guitar Players. Grab your guitar and looping pedal and play your way through his engaging curriculum - you will likewise be thrilled with the music you make that comes out the other side.
”Looping allows me to experiment in real time with my audience while absorbing the energy of the room. I get to explore different sounds and capture them live on stage in a unique way. For me, this isn’t just music making - it's moment making. ”
Grab your gear and let’s loop with Carl Wockner!

From country blues to Chicago blues, blues rock to modern blues, and even jazz blues -- you’ll hear your favorite blues guitarists ‘funk’ some of the songs up with a syncopated, percussive guitar part, that gets toes tapping and bodies moving. Play your way through Carl Burnett’s Spotlight On Funky Blues Rhythm course and you’ll be able to do the same at your next gig or jam session.
”Blues is a style of music, just like funk, that’s really all about the feel and the groove. But as guitar players, it’s important not to let our blues rhythm game get stale, playing the same old blues shuffle patterns every time we approach a 12-bar. Ever had a band mate ask ‘Can you make it more funky??’ Yes you can!”
